Description: The New York Caledonian Club – New York, April 22, 1865, requesting members to assemble at the Mercer House on April 25, at 11 AM in Citizen’s dress for the purpose of participating in the Funeral Obsequies of Abraham Lincoln. This has been mounted on an old cardboard mount and the top right corner of the board has been broken off (taped back on with archival tape), but there is no damage to the broadside.

SIR: YOU ARE REQUESTED TO ATTEND A SPECAIL MEETING OF THIS ASSOCIATION AT HEAD-QUARTERS, 7TH REGIMENT ARMORY, ON SATURDAY EVENING, APRIL 29TH, AT 8 O’CLOCK. BY ORDER W.R. VERMILYE, COLONEL. 5 1/8” by 8”, black bordered broadside, probably having something to do with Lincoln’s funeral. On April 25th, this group escorted Lincoln’s body in the funeral procession in New York City. General Lew Wallace accompanied them. Very good condition, with the exception of a glue stripe on the reverse left edge.
